Belt tensioner on 95 S320

Edit: I originally posted about how to get enough slack on the tensioner pulley so that I could replace my serpentine belt and keep all ten fingers. In the interest of helping anybody else who has this problem, here is the solution:



You slip the socket over the hex nut in the center of the pulley and then push. If you live in the US, the AutoZone parts stores have an item similar to the one shown above as part of their free tool rental program. If you want to buy it, it comes in a kit with various sized sockets for around $30 or about $20 + shipping off e-Bay.
