190E will not start not ovp or fuel accumulator

Hi all 1989 190E with 2.6L in it will not start replaced the ovp and fuel accumulator because it was hard to start (ran fine yesterday sometimes would start first try, sometimes take a few tries) now just will not start. Ideas? its making a weird noise from one of the fuel pumps now, still cranks just fine, am starting to get at my wits end....

any help would be great.
