What about these new Fiber Optic Systems?
Fiber optic radio systems
OK- From what I gather on this site, it seems like the fiber optic cables used in newer MBs mean that the components (CD changers etc) will NOT work in the older models. I don't see why one cant just purchase some fiber optic cable and hook things up. I know VERY little about MB stereos but I am trying to learn. This site here sells the FO cable: http://www.mbdoctor.com/shop/index.p...9a700e5d005ec5 The reason I ask: I have a Becker 3302 from a 1999 e320 that I want to put in my '90 300SE. That connections on the back look to be standard modern "ISO" hook ups. I would also like to add an amplifier...how hard would this be?

I've seen interface modules in specialty car audio stores that handle the fiber optic-to-wire conversions...not cheap though. ISO to fiber-optic mostly. Your system probably used the 8-pin DIN connection.
The standard ISO connectors should also be available, and for the most part, you can splice the OEM Becker connections on your 90 just fine. You will need some way to figure out what's what on your '99 head unit...hopefully there is a decal somewhere on the unit that tells you. I did an install on my 93 W124 with a Blaupunkt head unit, and it used ISO connections. That was the easy part of my install. I have yet to get an ISO-to-DIN interface to get my OEM changer working with the new head unit...an also-pricey item...

Well, the older (2000) blaupunkt in the car right now is the the standard ISO.
The becker 3302 is also ISO- Here it is- click on harness: http://beckerautosound.com/3302-1999/1ndex.htm So the head unit should hook right up.

Ok, so the head unit should be plug and play, more or less.
Been checking out the EPC to see how the radio was hooked up in the 99 210 car it came out of... The amp used with this HU, according to the EPC is part number A210 820 26 89
