1992 190E 2.6 A/C stopped cooling when I replaced blower fan switch

Hi,

My fan switch was stuck in the lowest speed setting, so I found one on eBay from a reputable seller. I replace the switch easily enough, and now the A/C, although it blows at all speeds, no longer cools. It was cooling perfectly 30 minutes ago, before I replaced the fan switch. All I did was pull the plug out of the back of the old switch and pull the tiny bulb enclosure out as well and then reconnect both items to the new fan switch. Should I have disconnected the battery before doing this? I'm wondering if I shorted out a relay. I checked the fuses and they seems to be intact. Thanks for any insight or advice.

regards,
Hans in Atlanta
