Grumbling brakes....
So when I bought the car the owner said the rotors + pads were brand new, not even a 1,000 on them. I checked them and they look new. Since then its been about 16,000 miles and they still are exactly the same.
Ever since day one, they grind and squeak constantly. The anti-squeak pad was put on....and I put anti-squeak paste too and it still grinds and squeaks constantly. So at this point I am ready to throw them right in the trash and get a new set. It only seems to be the front. I don't know why they are grumbling and squeaking.... What are the best rotors + pads for the w124? Thanks

If your current pads are Pagid, they WILL squeal!
OEM pads are Textar.

What about the rotors? Pads don't cause grumbling vibrations do they?

My brakes grumble as well. I use OEM Zimmermans for rotor replacements, but the grumbling persists.

My 88 560SEC does this as well, if you brake softly all the way to a stop they squeak, if you brake firm they dont make any noise and come to a nice quiet faster stop, if you brake hard they grumble and like just make an odd growling noise that is not like anything ive heard on other cars, ive kicked in many an ABS system before and none of them sounded or felt like this growling noise i hear. my car is also equiped with new pads on old roters, the brand of pads im unsure about they were on the car when i purchased it recently

I no longer press the brakes slowly....I give it a quick firm press to avoid the damn things squeaking....and then brake slowly so it doesn't grumble....its a very awkward thing. I've tried holding the brakes and accelerating, braking hard, driving downhill braking as suggested a few places to rid of squeaking, but nothing works. Anybody here have a successful set of rotors + pads that don't squeak or grumble?

I would start with a new set of PBR Deluxe front pads and if that doesn't work then change the rotors too.
