Question Compressor 560SEL - EURO vs. US model

QUESTION: Does anyone know whether the Nippon Denso 10P17C compressor used in the US W126 models is the same (or compatible with) that used in the Euro edition?

Tech just called to report that my '91 EURO 560SEL's A/C compressor has leaks in all its seals. (Not a huge surprise--my low mileage beast sat in the original owner's garage unused for years.) Anyway, tech recommends replacing the compressor... and if the readily available Nippon Denso isn't the right one, I'm thinking I'm in for a tough time finding a rebuilt unit that will work.

hi, ok from what i can determind by your vin is that the compressor you need is infact 000-230-25-11, this unit is on all 126 models from 1986-1991 which can be replaced by denso unit 472-0183, i am not sure if the unit you mentioned will fit, my parts source says the 10p17c is for VW and the denso unit for mercedes is 472-0183

so to answer your question the compressor that will fit US models will fit the Euro models.

The 10p17c compressor was used by numerous manufacturers. Before MB and Denso came out with a rebuilt we used to use an Acura version that was sold without clutch. When MBs only alternative wa s new $1000+ unit the Acura unit at less than $400 new w/o clutch was a great alternative. I hate rebuilt and have only used MB and Denso rebuilt.
