Crushed Gas Tank

What a week...Between a fuel indicator on crack then running outta fuel and now a crushed gas tank.....Oh and I drove thru T/S Hannah for five hours....

Don't know where to start on this one, but the good news is Hannah is gone.
I'm guessing remove the tank , detach the float wires etc....
Why would the tank crush/collaspe if there wasn't a vent tube problem?
Gas cap?

Tank is ever so slighly split on the seam so guess that's history...

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Tks.,

-j

Of course as it crushed it took out the sending unit. It has a vent issue. The cap did its job sealing tight or it wouldn't have crushed.

At this juncture I kinda wish it hadn't crushed...Oh ya right there between exits 38 and 39 on Rte. 75 Northbound.....:-) Where were you on Friday evenning?...I can still use that 30+ years of know how in a very real way.

So I need a tank, a sending unit and presumably a venting tube unless that comes with the new tank....Any further suggestions or points of direction here?
Thanks
