91 300se runs rough and slugish
1991 300se
Hard to start. When idling at times economy gauge is 1/4 way down. Feels like a miss Have to feather the gas, when I push the gas pedal seems to bog down then it clears up and finally goes also happens up to 45mph I think. Trying seafoam Did complete tune up Cap, Rotor, Wires, Fuelfilter Thanks Gary Last edited by GSORK; 10-16-2008 at 05:42 PM. Reason: Adding text |

plugs?
I notice you didn't mention spark plugs...my 1990 300TE was acting stupid
as well, stalling, hard restart, shakey idle. Ends up it was the coolant temp sensor and a new set of Bosch Copper Plus plugs...runs like a champ now. Just my experience though...could be something else |

You have a vac leak for sure, you must replace all the junk rubber under the hood PRIOR to attempting to adjust the CIS properly. This includes ANY and ALL oil leaks as these also are vac leaks... the oil dipstick tube is included.
How old is the O2 sensor? Verify the plugs are proper, should be BP5EFS from NGK OR H9DC from Bosch. NO resistor plugs.

Wrong plugs. Just replace all the rubber there, I can almost assure you it's all dead. Cost is only about $120 in parts at the very most

The stuff that's hard now will include (but not limited to): Breather hoses Vacuum lines Y and X connectors Idle control hoses Injector seals/orings Valve cover gasket Oil filler cap oring Dipstick seal Upper timing cover seal It's not HARD, just takes a good bit of time to clean all the crap off to reseal.
