560SL auxiliary fan removal help

Trying to remove/change auxiliary fan on 1987 560SL. I can get the fan loose, but cannot get it out of the grill opening. Any tricks? Do I have to remove the radiator and condenser, or at least unbolt and move the condenser? Thanks.

Fan removal

You must take the fan apart or go through a drill of moving the condenser / radiator back an inch or so. The nut on the front of the motor has a reverse thread. (i.e turn to the right to take it off) I striped mine and had to cut to old fan out a piece at a time. I installed the new one by taking it apart. Also. the cross bars must be removed first. The fan does not come on until the temp is over 100. I did not know this when I destroyed a good fan. Good luck.
