Funky looking bolt heads on M103?
Someone on another forum stated that my bolt heads looked weird. I wanted to double check this. Anybody else think they are different or they look right? Much appreciated.

They look fine to me, use a 12 point socket. I'm sure MB uses a special tool so check in 'BUY PARTS' under special tools.
Why do you have the oil pan off?

Interesting to see the crank is forged and the crank pin journals are induction hardened. Two design features you only see on premium engines.

This is the way Mercedes makes their engines. My 1965 220S also has a forged crank with induction hardened journals. These are not Ford/Chevy/MOPAR engines.
