Yepper this is Charlie, Formerly Charlies84380SE.
I got Mariah the '89 560 SEC in March and the Bluebird the '84 Euro 500 SEC in August.
I don't believe that CS's car has the Hydraulic suspension as an option.
That tube is you main fuel hose and it is leaking at the tank connection. It is either the hose or the fuel strainer seal.
Either way, Enrique should be able to help you. I'd replace the hose and the strainer seal and have him clean the strainer(which he will anyway I'm sure).

I forget how far you are from Enrique's but if it isn't too far(25 miles) you'd probably be OK to drive it. You have driven it(the last time out) without a problem, Right?

Put on the parking brake, start the car up, put(leave) shifter in park, then look under there when it's running to see if you see gasoline coming out. My guess is not leaking when running, but, leaking when shut off and there is a bit of pressure in the tank.....

IF it isn't leaking when running, then you can drive it to Enrigue's.

It's not leaking when off
It leaks a slight amount when running the last time I tried it

I haven't used the car in months
& the time before I ran it a few days earlier it leaked a big 1 foot plus puddle.

So not sure why it leaks when it leaks but it is leaking very slow the last past time.

Enrigue is about a 20 min ute drive

I'll have to ask Enrigues what he thinks

Might have to wait a week or two to get it fixed & hoping its not too $

Thanks for the help

Called Enrique
He said to take it in so Monday Dec 29 started her up & looked for a leak
saw no leak so took her over to MR MB. Don't know why the leak stopped but had to get it checked
Left it overnight & it was ready the next morning...2 fuel hoses changed
had to drain gas & 1 1/2 hrs labor it was fixed reasonably/

Picked her up today & took her home grateful to have a honest reliable mech such as Enrigue.

Surprise met a fellow forum memeber there...the same member I met there by coincidence over a year ago!
Who'd a imagined...

Sorry I forgot his name but he has a lovely cranberry E.

Sorry I was just so excited over the repairs I didn't get to ask his name.

Imagine that???? What are the odds????

We had a nice chat with Enrique & then I took my euro 500 1983 SEC home

Could that be a drain from an evaporator tank?

Would you believe it was me?

What are the odds of that happening?

Had Enrique do an A service on the E430, replace the brake fluid, rotate the tires, and replace a shifter bushing.

Oh....he also had a guy come out and fix my instrument cluster. Had some missing pixels in the LED display. Now I can finally read the time and the gear shift display.

Hi...

It was nice to see you again
I'd say the odds were really slim that 2 members independently would take there car into the shop on the same day twice.

The first time I went to MB Motors was to have the car checked out after I bought it.
Enrique put in new motor mounts. While takiing it home I noticed it was getting really hot so back to th shop the 2nd time I barely made it there when she was teetering on 120C.
Enrique changed the thermo & radiator.
It runs around 90 C now which he says is acceptible.
I remember meeting Suganami at that time as he too had just bought his car & he thought perhaps my problem could be a head leak causing it?
Hope not but I don't think Enrique thought that.

I did have to take it in a 3rd time as I broke some temp valve thing on the intake manifold when I was changing all the vacuum hoses I could get my hands on. Enrique installed new spark plugs & wires and a accumulator to get the car to start when hot. He was really happy the way the car was running after he tweeked it.

So actually this was the 4th time to MB as I noticed the fuel leak.
I called Enrique to ask about it & he said he was just thinking about not seeing me in a while so the car must be working ok...

Enrique changed 2 fuel hoses & now the car is ready for the road again. It was good to get the car out as I have not driven it in over 6 mo.
She's powerful & fun to drive. I'll have to find somewhere nice to take it one of these days.

So thats the saga of my 83 euro 500 SEC...

Wishing everyone, there loved ones & benzes a Great New Year!

Are you certain it's not just water? Perhaps some water was trapped in one of the drain channels and you getting in and out of the car shook it enough to make it drain....
