Tyler:

If you do change the wheels and want to sell the ones that are on the car now I may be a prospect for them. If I’m not mistaken I believe the offset on the wheels on the wagon is a bit different than the sedan and the wagon has a bit wider track. The spare that came with my 88’ 300TE wagon is narrower and I’ve always assumed it came off a sedan.

You’ll see in the pictures I posted earlier of my two wagons that the 95’ E320 wagon has the wheels from my 300TE on it and with my wife putting over 3,000 miles a month on her E320 wagon, I swap wheels and tires back and forth to keep the best ones on hers and It’d be nice to have a matching set of wheels so hers always has the correct ones.

I kept mine stock

I have black on black MB wagon. I thought about doing something very clean / AMG kit. Then again, I've always been a stock guy - I love things that are stock in design -- especially MB's.

One thing I did do that I think makes the car pop, is added some MB branded mudflaps. they are black and the rear ones are bigger and have the star emblem on them. It really makes the car look perfect! I still get a smile EVERYTIME I take her out -- even if just for the most mundane errands.

I've decieded against the body kit, and taking the wheels off of my convertible...

I'm hoping to buy some AMG aero IIs or something similar for the wagon, so if anyone has any in good shape they are willing to part with, PM me.

All I have of the two of them together is this shot. I used a fish eye so things look a bit distorted

I drive an 88' 300TE Wagon with over 300k miles and I just replaced the transmission and am putting on new shocks. Except for batteries, alternator, thermostat, etc., I've never had mine in the shop other than oil changes.

I bought mine 1st and we were so impressed with it we bought hers. They appear to be the exact same car other than the engine and grill. If I needed a car I'd buy another one in a second, particularly if you drive heavy monthly miles.
This is a KEEPER!..not sure if i'm going to frame it, to print a t shirt or to send it to be inprinted into a new blanky..

Mistaken Identity

Oltimer:

The quote you have posted is actually mine, as I also have a 300TE wagon and an E320 wagon that are both dark blue, not black like “michaelscooots”, which you’ll see in some earlier pictures I posted on 11-23-2008 as post #53. Being such a limited production car, I’ll bet there aren’t too many of us that are fortunate enough to own two of these.

Scored some wheels for the Excelsior today...

AMG Wheels with good tires.

16" X 7.5" 37 ET

Part number 2014000702

With Continental Contisport Contact 205/55/16

They're exactly what I wanted. Not too big of a rim so it still rides nice, non-staggered setup, and period correct.

According to this online wheel chart it was made for the W124.

Sold the wagon today. The car just wasn't growing on me like Ol' Turbo and Zippy had.

You are going to have to register as a used car lot if you buy or sell anymore cars.

I cannot agree Jim - I have both a 124 300E and 123 coupe 280CE and I like driving both - I enjoy the coupe for it's older handling characteristics and I enjoy the 124 for the opposite reasons - now I will just switch out to the coupe for weekends and special occasions to keep the mileage lower.

This was a bonehead decision on my part. Absence of the 124 estate made the heart grow fonder. After 6 months of owning the big dog W211 wagon, I just didn't see enough upside to justify keeping the E500 over a cheaper and simpler W124 wagon.

Early tomorrow morning, the Excelsior-A should be arriving. I will post details and photos later.
