o2 and oil temp sensor ,no signal! 1982 mb 380sec
i was yesterday to a german repair shop to adjust my fuel mixture,,and the guy toldme that he does not getting any signal from o2 sensor!,,
he said that a lot of times the oil temp sensor or switch are bad,,and it may do that,, so i looked up to mitchell how to check the oil temp sensor and the program say at warm idle unplug wire to the ground,,the car should go to 850 rpms,, but on my car is not going up,,none ,,no difference so i check the wire from the sensor all the way to the ECU electronic control unit (or ECM electronic control module the same??) to see if wire is okay, with a light and ,,yap the wire is fine,, here is what the program say: what im thinking is maybe the ecu is al most bad.. i smell it inside it smells litlle burn ,,but all electronix small like that,,, and a other think,,for the first time i took the dash with gadges out and the wire from o2 sensor was out and no light!,i put a light and put it in and now is on,, i dont know what is next,,, and the engine is starting litlle hard also i have to press the gas for 3-5 sec to comeback to normall... any ideas ,,thanks in advance

The O2 sensor light on that car is a MILEAGE only warning. Bulb was designed to be removed after 30K miles.
For a single wire O2 sensor to function the engine (exhaust) must be very HOT. You need to drive for at least 6-8 miles & the thermostat must allow the engine to reach at least 180F. Oil temp has nothing to do with the starting of that engine. Cold starting is done thru mechanical devices. On the early 380's we always wire in a 3 wire O2 sensor for better mileage & better emission control.

Multiple problems may cause this error. Oxygen sensor doesn't seem to be the problem, as you changed those. Then the ECTS (temp sensor) may cause the problem or the cat itself.
The fuel system being fouled can be the cause, as javagps says, so you may want to try a fuel system cleaner as it is the cheapest option. |

the cat i put new one in,about 2 monts ago,, and also yesterday i did swap the computer ecm or ecu with other used one and still no difference,, is there a diferent way to check the oil temp sensor? than mitchell ondemand? ""Then the ECTS (temp sensor) may cause the problem"" is this the water temperature? because i did put the original oem temp terhmostat new,,but few days ago i was driving and my water temp went all the way to 120'' and then after a while maybe 2-3 minutes went down,,,maybe like you said the water temp may cause this proablems.. thanks
