A QUESTION ABOUT ASL Light... NEED HELP

Hello
I have a 97 E class... and when I drive it in the morning, when it's not quite warm yet, it doesn't go faster than 20mph, when I push the accelerate, the ASL triangle light comes up on the dash... in about 10 min, when the cars gets warmer it lets go, and drives normally
I called the dealership technical servive, the guy said he had no idea, how helpful...
anyways I'm hoping for answer from you members, I'd appreciate the help very much

best regards

I thought 96 was a non year for MB "wagons".
Is it a 124 or newer chassis?
Is a "300" a diesel?

yes I ment the ASR light, I misheard it when typing... so it looks like a problem with traction control sensor or something... I tried searching for it but can't find anything helpful...

Check your owner's manual for the basics of ASR. The light means that a malfunction has been detected in the ASR system - which could be a big deal or not. One of the problems with ASR is that when it goes into the limp home mode it doesn't matter whether it's big or small the car isn't driveable. You'll probably need to take it in to someone that can read the fault codes for your year. It's not hard to find out more about ASR - a google search results in 1.8 million hits.

Did you search this site? I searched and found many threads. One said it happened when he hit the brakes. Do a search.

You might try replacing the brake lamp switch.

thanks everyone, I did pretty much everything that was suggested, and it's probably the break light switch, I'll get to the merc. dealer on monday.
it's fantastic how OFFICIAL MERCEDES-BENZ technical support ppl didn't know what the problem was... and I did call them.... it's just great isn't it?
again thanks to everyone who replied, I very much appreciate it, it was all very helpful
cheers
