W201 Headlight questions.....
I have recently started using my 1993 190E as a commuter. My new job often lands me on the LA freeway system after dark and I have noticed the headlights are "sub par" to say the least. They are properly aimed and have fresh (Napa) bulbs as of last weekend, but they still are less than desirable.
I have done some searches and found that "Euro's" and "HID conversions" come up often. I will probably convert to "Euro's" in the future, but I wondered if anyone has had good results with a "HID" conversion? Cash is a bit tight right now with the Christmas season and a 3 month job search. The "HID" conversions cost a whole lot less than a decent set of "Euro" headlamps, would a "HID" conversion be a reasonable stop gap remedy?

No. You'll blind everyone else and won't be able to see well.
The solution for a poor beam pattern is to replace the fixture. A brighter lamp won't make a bad fixture better. -Jason

Thanks,
I don't want to blind anyone, but I do want to be able to see well, or least better. I'm guessing I'll have to go with the "Euro's".

Euro headlights for W201 are working so MUCH better then DOT version. Just replace original headlights on euro version.

Euros are so awesome. I recently put a set on my W126 and now I take relaxing night drives in the middle of nowhere and marvel in how well the night is lit up by a set of used 20 year old + headlights I got of ebay.

Does your car have headlamp wipers? Some cheepie Depot lights like this, while not as good as the OEMs, will still be tons better then the worn out DOT units. You'll need to get the connector housings and move the wires over to them for the euro lights, this is detailed in the DIY articles section of this site.
