Rotor Removal W126

Can anyone give me detailed procedures on removing the front brake rotors? The vehicle, a 1989 300SEL, seems to need new rotors. Lot's of grinding, vibration at steering wheel and brake pedal. The car does have 80K on original rotors.

Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

For starters, check out the DO IT YOURSELF section at this site. There are some good photos of brakes pad replacement on another model, but what you see there looks very much like what you'll see on your 126.

As for caliper/rotor removal, see the following thread:

Replacing front rotors on a 91 420 SEL

Wheel bearing adjustment technique is provided in this thread. BenzMac also suggests ZERO PRELOAD and ZERO FREEPLAY.

I also need to remove my rear rotors to get to some rattling emergency brake pads. But first I need to remove the rear brake calipers. Did a search and found nothing on this process.

Could someone please briefly explain how this is done on a 124, 300E?

Thanks!

~Paul
