1990 300 se engine question
helo,
i have owned this car for 3 years and put 25k miles on it and almost the entire time (last 15-20k) there has been oil infiltrating the coolant. i assumed it was a symptom of a bad head gasket and that it would begin to get worse, but it never did! no overheating, no coolant in the oil, nothing. is there any other explanation or is it just taking a long time to fail? any input is appreciated. thank you gregg

change the coolant to be sure. it's possible the last owner had the problem and the cooling system wasn't cleaned out. you may be flushing the remnants. otherwise, it's your turn to replace the head gasket. good luck, chuck.

thats what i thought, 20k miles ago, but why no overheating, or worsening of the problem?
