ASR... can it be defeated? V6 input too?
I am looking at a car that has ASR which don't need and hear horror stories about. This is in a 99 C280. Can it be just bypassed with little effort if it fails. I am in the South and don't need it. Should I just walk away from the car just because of that?
I had asked the seller if it had it and he said no... but I get there and there is it. This V6 thats in there. Whats the ups and downs of that motor for longevity?

That's a later version of ASR which seems not to be as troubled as the earlier. The V6 is good, except for harmonic balancer and the occasional oil use / re-ring, basically fatal to engine of an older car like that without dealer/factory help. A search should find both topics.

Thanks
one more question here... Does anyone know the current Dealer cost for the Transponder key (remote thing with radio ignition "Key" and metal key blade too) to be made and processed for one of these cars?
