Auto Transmission
Hello to you all this is my first posting, and I have recently acquired a merc E 320 TDI registered on a Y year 2000, but it came without the handbook, I hope this is not too silly a question but where do I check the fluid level to the auto transmission please.

If it's a W210 "CDI" with the 722.6 5 spd it is in the usual place at the rear of the engine compartment. Red lock pin on top; break off, push lock out bottom.
The tube is empty; dip stick is a "factory tool". If there are no leaks it is prob fine.

Many thanks for your reply, thats one of the problems sorted, strange that you have to have a "factory tool" to check the oil level? but with there being no leaks I will pass this one by. thanks again.

There is a picture of one at *************** under my model car, 2000 C280.
Trick is to check level with the fluid at the correct temp which I think is 80 C. Some have done this by pinging the tranny pan with an infrared thermometer. You might at least have the dealer check it for piece of mind. glenmore 1991 300CE 2000 C280 |

The concensus amongst most, is to have it changed around 40,000 mi or so, with MB specific fluid and have the dipstick sealed again. The temporary dipstick can not be left in place and does not seal.

that's a pretty goofy thread...what the hell are you guys talking about? breaking stuff off, push lock out bottom? It's a stupid dipstick...no magic. what does that mean?
