Re- Keying W107 door locks, need advice please
Hello All! I have a weird issue with my '84 Mercedes 380Sl. I recently discovered when ordering a new vin matched key that the key would only open my glove box and trunk locks which were original, the key would not operate ignition and door locks so obviously these had been changed at one point. I ordered a new vin matched ignition tumbler so now ignition matches, but still have to deal with the two door locks. My question is, is it possible to get new door tumblers keyed to my vin (I have heard no on this) or can I remove the tumblers and send them out to be adjusted to my keys? Does anyone have any good advice here or has been through this? I do not want to buy new door handles from mercedes (330.00 each!) Thank you!

You should be able to order new tumblers that match your VIN from the MB dealer. I had to order a new tumbler for the driver's door on my 190E a couple of years ago and all I had to do was go to the parts department with my VIN and they were able to order it. I took the broken one out, put the new one in, and it is good as new. I know you mentioned that your vehicle is a 380SL, but I would think that you should be able to buy just the tumblers instead of the entire door handle for each side.

Mercedes wants to sell me vin matched handles! I am going to pull a door handle and see how things look. Worst case scenario, I should be able to send the door tumblers to germany with my new vin correct key and I would think that the tumblers could be changed there -
