Upper Timing cover Seal
Im looking at tackling this job on my E320 1996. Have the seals and Merc sealer. Any tips and hints? Have the proceadure in a workshop manual.

I just did this on my 95. I dont think yours will be much different. I guess the best advice I could give you is make sure its not your head gasket leaking or a combination of both. I blew 4+ hours replacing my front cover seal just to find out the leak was coming a few MM next to the seal, at the corner head gasket, pass side front.
Just be careful not to lose parts from the chain tensioner when you relieve pressure. Also observe caution when extracting the one guide pin. I had to take this pin out because the cover wont clear with it in. Be sure you have new valve cover gasket set.
