01 SL500 front brake sensors

Am doing a state inspection on an 01 SL500 and noticed the wear sensors are not on the front brake pads. There are connections on the calipers, but no wires to the pads. This car only has 39K on it and I doubt if it has ever had pads put on it. Did Mercedes leave the wires off for some reason ? BTW, the rear pads have the wear sensors.

What you're looking at is the second set of pads on that car, probably installed at the brakes equivalent of Jiffy Lube. The car had sensors from the factory.
