Is this anything special?

I'm a diesel guy, so don't know much about gas engines...or w126s for that matter. supposedly has 43K miles on it and is priced at 2900.

It's in especially poor condition for a 43k mile car, as if it's never seen the inside of a garage.

I dunno, the paint is shot, but that's low miles and an otherwise good price. I'd be really careful to see how well it's been maintained, and if it ever sat for extended periods. That's about a 2K mile per year average. Likely it sat for a while.

How's the interior? Oh- the power antenna's shot, and so is the outside temperature display....

The more I look at it, the less I believe that it has 43K miles on it. I'm not sure that's the original instrument cluster....

1) That seat appears to have more than 43K miles of ass wear.
2) The instrument cluster is in miles, but the HVAC is in Celsius, with German, and the Cruise Control and other labels are in German.

Me thinks a bit fishy... But, I could be wrong. There have been oddball mix/match of components before. I would be interested to find out from experts out there if the cluster could be original or not.

I should have included the craigslist ad before.

ad says:
This vehicle was imported into the U.S. for a Colombian diplomat in April of 1989 in Plant City, FL. The mileage is accurate and Car Fax confirmed. In 1995 this vehicle had only 7,000 miles on it!

looks pretty dirty to me under the hood, for those miles...could have had quite a few prior to getting a new speedo.

The German climate control would indicate gray market, and 43k U.S. miles, no telling how many before it got here.

IF it's only got 40somethousandmiles, they were put on the vehicle during the first few years of its service. Since then, it's sat and rotted. Big IF. I'd walk away. Run actually. Offer $1,000.

I agree with these opinions. The interior looks way too beaten up. I didn't see any body rot, but the tires need to be replaced. You can find better examples for almost 3K

Of course if there is a key or two under the seats, that can make the car very profitable

The car has the horrible US style sealed beam headlights and US tails.

It is an improperly federalized euro car, because the very rare euro bumpers are retained. It also has the very desirable, and expensive and hard to find euro headlight wipers and motors on it.

With this low mileage, if it is true, it is well worth repainting and refurbishing.

Don't forget - a stock EURO 500 engine will outperform, and has slightly more HP than a smogged, stock US spec 560 engine.

Its wheels can be discarded and displaced, and the body looks straight.

With an interesting history, if it's verifiable, a repaint - if needed, would yield a very nice, impressive and rare car.

1986 up (Gen. II) W126 coupes and sedans that are euro cars are very very rare in this country.

For an enthusiast with modest restration skills, that appreciates a vehicle like this, it's a fine car for the asking price, if it has no mechanical or rust/prior collision issues.
