Well I did it, bought a 1998 SLK with 65,000 miles on it at the auction, it has a few issues, like peeling interior paint, which I expected. BUT, I can't get the top down, or the trunk open. The button on the console which I think is the one to lower the top is missing its cover, I hope this is the switch and I just need a new one, OR am I pushing the wrong button, and should I have turned another knob? Any info would be appreciated-Thanks.

To start with.....You need to open the trunk & see if the roller blind is in place.

That's another "problem." The trunk won't open, put in the key turn it, push it, cuss at it, nothing works. It key in the trunk lock, will open and lock the cars doors, but that's it.
