Hard starting problem

I gave my '92 300CE a tune up this weekend thinking that my hard starting problem may go way. Didn't work.

I guess I should be asking for some help but before I do I should explain about what I mean about "hard starting problem". Living in So California perhaps it actually is not as much as a "problem" as living in some other colder regions. It is just bothersome that when I get into the car I have to crank it twice before it "catches".

I have replace the following:

  • Air temp sensor
  • Rotor
  • Cap
  • Plug wires
  • Plugs
Just a sore spot with me, I like to have my cars running near perfect as possible. Could there be something else causing this "problem"?

If your car is KE injected, that's pretty much how they start in warmer climates as they age since the cold start valve doesn't come into play until the coolant temperature is below about 15 to 20deg. C. My 1991 300TE always started immediately in cold weather but would usually require 1 longer cranking period (3 or 4 seconds) or 2 shorter attempts to start first thing on a warmer day. "State of the art" as MB would say. Mark
