1996 E320 second remote key programming
I bought a new Key from the local MB dealer. The batteries are good and the original remote key works well. I cant seem to get it activated.
Are there any tricks for a second key programming? I have reprogrammed the original key several times but the new one doesnt accept the same process to activate. Any ideas? 177K on the clock |

Did you ...
have to give the dealer the VIN to get the key? In some cases you have to provide proof of ownership too to get the key initialized.

2nd key programming
I did have to provide registration and ownership proof to get the new Key. Thats why I am thinking I dont have the right proceedure to program it. It should be a simple process. I cpould take it to the dealer I suppose but they dont seem to be very helpfull and its a 40 mile oneway. Id rather be able to do it myself so when it needs battaries Ill be able to do it.

The info lights come on when the door is opened. I did sit in the car until they went out and neither key turns on the lights when inserted into the ignition. Both will unlock the door and start the car.
If I lock the car using the remote, the new key will not start the car but the engine rolls over. Id say the ignition is disabled by the anti theft system. As it should be. Anymore ideas? |
