W126 alarm questions

I have already did the searches and read what seems like tons of posts on this and its going in circles with alot of people saying different things.

My '88 W126 sat unused for about 9 days. When I went to unlock it this morning and opened the door, the horns started blaring, lights flashing, etc. Locking/unlocking would not stop it. I even started the car, thinking it would stop, but it didnt- it finally stopped on its own. I restarted the car and it started going again. I had to end up shutting off the car and disconnect the battery because it would stop for a few minutes, then restart. I guess I will remove the panel and disconnect the alarm.

I really dont even care if the alarm works, but I would like it better if it did. Seems like something in the door latch goes bad. I read where someone (Sixto) did a little trick with locking/unlocking/locking fast and stopping it and where others said they unlocked at other locks. I am wondering if I just unlocked the doors by unlocking the trunk or passenger side door, if that would keep the alarm from sounding? Reason I am confused is that another thread said the alarm would still sound.

Also, if I do end up disconnecting the unit, can I leave those wires I disconnected dangling in there behind the false wirewall without any problems? Seems like loose electrical wires could pose a problem?

If I decide to replace the part in the door, where can that be bought and how hard to change? Door panel have to come off?

Just too much information and confusing for me. Thanks for info!

Its a '88 W126.

Thanks!

Problem possibly solved. I reconnected the battery and was able to shut alarm off with the passenger key and trunk lock as well. I also tested driver side door lock again and no problems. I think its where I opened the door too quickly after unlocking.

Well found my old thread and more than three years later this problem has popped up again! This time it went off just when the door was opened (car had not been locked). The car is my moms now and has been for over a year. The other day my dad went out to put the baby car seat back in it and the alarm started blaring. It finally shut off, but today when I was going to take my mom on some errands in it, as soon as I opened the door (again, the door had NOT been locked), horn started blaring again, then it went off, but the lights kept flashing. Finally had to end up disconnecting the battery.

Guess will have to research again and see how I go about disconnecting it. Ugh.
