what is part "000 542 2818" on a M119 MAF?

It is some type of sensor that attached to the mass airflow sensor. What does it do? Should it be replaced with the MAF?

Air Temperature Sensor

'Looks like the Behr unit may be not available
(Is that what NLA means on FastLane?)

As to your other questions: I do not know,I'm a Diesel guy...the MAF on my MB
is un-necessary/disabled/gone...I went over to the "Dark Side" with a Pressure
Operated Wastegate...If the EDS(Computer) is setting codes ,it matters not.

It's an air intake temperature sensor, don't have to replace it with the MAF but it is cheap, around $20.
