1990 300TE question
How the heck does the hood/grille ornament come off of a 1990 300? I see it but I don't get it...Thanks

If its like the older ones you need to grab it with pliers and pull down/rotate the locking piece, then it will come free and lift out. I could be wrong though.
Usually the service advisers at most dealers will pop them on/off for you, especially if you buy a new one there. (same price as anywhere else)

Agreed. Grab the sheet-metal retainer, rotate 90* while pulling down slightly. Sometimes the ears of the retainer are bent outward somewhat and still hook in the hole, they should nest in two arcuate grooves in the upper casting when rotated to remove.

I wouldn't take it off if it isn;t broken though. Usually if it's not broke before you take it off, it sure as heck is once it's removed!

I've removed several without damage, never had a problem.
Still have the Sprite Gilly? My Father bought a '61 new in France (Air Force Pilot), brought it back. Finally threw away the French tail-lamps (red/amber) turn-signal lenses (clear) and complete yellow Lucas tripod headlamps a couple of years ago when he moved (DOH!) Also a spare set of sliding side-windows for the hardtop. Wish he would have asked me (lights were in the car for ~1year before he brought it home). Cool little cars.

Sold it not long after it was completed. I think I enjoyed the work more than actually enjoying having it. Once it was done the challenge was gone. It was still a hard decision. Newest toy is a BMW K1200GT
