1993 190E 2.3 Valve Cover Gasket
Hi All,
How hard is the valve cover gasket to replace in a 93 190 2.3? Mine is bad, and I noticed a new one is fairly cheap. The job looks somewhat simple, but I figured I should post on here first to get an idea of the following: 1. What exactly is needed(tools parts etc)? 2. What should I watch for while doing the job? 3. Any quirks I may encounter? Thanks for any advice!!! |

Takes less than an hour.
You will need a 13mm socket & ratchet as well as a 10mm to remove the air filter. Getting the ignition wires out of the way & keeping the "loom" together can be a pain. I always disconnect the dist cap & swing the loom away instead of removing the connectors from the plugs. Use tape OR tie wraps on the loom to hold it together. Get several cans of "brake cleaner" to clean the surfaces of the valve cover. Also use "lint-free" cloths to wipe off the head. While the cover is off you can inspect the timing chain & cam timing...set engine to TDC ONLY rotate engine clockwise.
