Question New steering wheel problem

I am in the process in switching out the stock steering wheel on my 93 400E for a leather and burlwood one bought off of Ebay. Everthing has gone fine except for the horn. I was able to switch out the horn ring but because the steering wheels have slightly different housings I could not switch out the horn contacts. I was able to determine the hot and ground on the two spade contacts and have hooked them up in every concievable way I can think of and the fuse is blown everytime I push the horn. Anyone with similiar experienc or suggestions?
