Question 89 560SEL control module

which one is the control module and how does it come out?

Which control module are you looking for? The idle control is in the passenger footwell, for instance. Most of those pictured are relays for various systems, not technically "control modules." I have a PDF file that maps the relays you pictured, but it's too big to upload here. You can PM me with an email, and I can send it to you.

ive been told the control module for the wipers and rear defrost is one of the black ones in the pic.

Check the lid for a paper diagram of the relay positions. The long one on the left is for the light-out indicator.

All of the relays you have in the picture just pull up and wiggle a bit to remove. No special tricks. You might nudge them up with a flat-head screwdriver at their base to get them started out though.

BTW-- I'd replace all those aluminum fuses with copper ones-- the aluminum corrodes and you get little electrical gremlins....

I'm also still curious as to what control module you're looking for.....

the other large black relay in the middle is the wiper module.
