I have a 94 S-500 with 10K miles on it. It is currently in a local Air Cond. shop getting a 3K evaporator job. They are now telling me that a small pin/gear sheared off or broke in the steering wheel area when they removed the wheel. They also say this is the way Mercedes designed the car. The pin is designed to break and disable the ignition system. The repair is now delayed because of another $180 worth of parts required to replace this antitheft device. Is this really true?? or did they just take it apart wrong??

I have been following the forum since I purchased this car a few months ago. It has been a wealth of information and I enjoy it very much.
