300te heater core?
1989 300te. I have a faint smell of anti-freeze INSIDE the car. I know from my wife's Volvo that the heater core is located INSIDE the car. I replaced her's, and for that model Volvo, it was actually an easy job.
I haven't a clue where the heater core is on my car, and don't want to rip up stuff looking for it. Any assistance would be helpful. I am hoping that the smell is NOT coming from the core, as I fear a ton of work ahead. |

Not what you want to hear but the heater core is buried under the dash. So much so that you strip the dash out of the car and proceed to remove the entire heater box assembly before disassembling it to get to the heater core. It is almost as if they layed the core on the assembly line and built a car around it. There is the possibility that the core itself is not leaking but instead the o-rings that seal the attaching pipes. However it would be foolish to not go ahead and install a new core as you still have huge labor just to get to the o-rings.

I hope you are a DIY'er...
otherwise it is going to be expensive.
Whatever you do do not go to a stealership. It will cost you TWO arms and two legs to get it fixed. Go to a MB independant.
