my guess is that you tore your interior apart to replace the tumbler when in fact it's the key itself...same thing on my 1990 300TE....old key works in the doors and and trunk just fine like...ignition...nope...went and got a new key from the dealer and it works just fine. I can't explain it but it's true, in my case.
