Swapping Tach guts 8 cyl to 6 cyl

I need a 6 cylinder tachometer for what was originally an 8 cylinder car 1986 560SL. I have been looking for a used European 300SL tach but haven't found any and I suspect I will pay through the nose for it if I found it.

I wondering about interchangeability of Tach guts. I'm considering purchasing a used Tach from a 300CE and fitting the tach and clock portion into my 560SL tach.

This car is a 107. Only the Euro 300SL cluster will go right in. These are very rare in the states

Thumbs up

There's a 300SL R107 in town I'm trying to buy.

Ebay.de is where I'd check, I had a gauge cluster shipped for about $44 for an E23 BMW last fall... plus the cost of the cluster an Paypal fees. PP was easier than a bank wire as the three I have wanted a $25 processing fee.

Probably be out $100 or so all said and done. Use the altavista.com translator for a good idea of what the sites say unless you speak German.

Been looking there not too much luck so far. Let me know if you decide to part out the 300SL 107.
