Need advice fast: failed AC Control Module - do myself or pay the bucks
Guys, I need some quick advice. I have a W202 C280 with a failed AC Climate Control module (or so say the local AC shop after diagnosis).
I've been going through an expensive process on the AC system: compressor went bad. System dumped all gas in 24 hours. Had it and other components replaced to the tune of $2000. Now the AC is periodic and that is due apparently to the AC Climate Control Module. I've paid $140 for the diagnosis, and if I have them replace the unit, the bill will be $1200. I am under the impression that this unit is almost a slip-in-and-lock type of connection, not unlike a radio. Should I source my own unit, and replace it myself? Where could I find a rebuild/refurb unit? I'm told it's up to 14 days to turn my old one around. I have to make a decision pronto. Thanks a million. |
