removing bumper support 190e 2.3-16v

Has anyone removed or cut most of the front bumper support for a 190e race car. The question is front bumper support part of the unibody? If I removing it will it affect the chassis stiffness?

Thanks Paul

I'm sure it is. It is the first part of the crumple zone as well as being the first part of the front end that gets attention for frame straightening. I'm sure you could fabricate a replacement for racing, but I would guess that the difference in weight would be minimal.

Cut the front bumper support the big aluminum bumper down to 8 lbs. The structure (unibody stiffness not affected), was told by Rick at RC imports that this part is fiberglass on some euro cars.
