how hard is it to replace the struts on a 190E? is this a simple task for someone with slightly lower than average skill or should i not even attempt it? what does it entail?

Thanks guys!

I have replaced the front struts on my 190e 2.6 and w124 260e.

Its not a difficult job - you just need to be careful. The bolts holding the struts on to the brakes are difficult to undo without the car being raised high enough to get a good purchase.

There is a DIY on this in that section.

You don't need a spring compressor if you are careful. You need a hydraulic floor jack and some jack stands.

When you replace the front struts replace the rubber mountings on the top also - they are relatively cheap.

The rear struts are easy.
