Thanks... the updated hood/grille was the first thing i mentioned to him. He also put in the 94/95 smoke tailights.

He said he personally removed the cladding and bumpers and took them to a custom shop to have them sprayed.

He bought an M3 in a divorce situation.

To me you are either a Mercedes guy or a Bimmer guy.

So true.

The divorce he's going through might have precipitated an identity crisis, forcing him to go to the other side.

Not necessarily.

I noticed the hood upgrade also. Lee, I'm surprised you had no competition on the bidding; it seems like the starting price was a good price considering all the upgrades, low mileage and TLC. Good luck with it.

I picked up my car on Saturday, and drove from it back from Chicago to NY, nonstop and without incident and with excellent mileage on premium gas. Car was very clean, with new tires (continentals, the oem conticontact ch95, h rated) & battery, seemed to be in great condition. Oem headlights worked surprisingly well, and I may not switch to euros. Only surprise was that it had the green antifreeze, which I will change shortly.

Did you mention "premium gas" because you normally run something different in your CE? Unless you have the adjustable timing resistor, or have had the resistor replaced so you can run lower grade fuel, I though we were supposed to run premium in these things?

On the 87 and 88 w124s, following input from other posts on this forum, I usually run regular gas, and like the others I've had no problem apparently because these M103 engines have none of the engine sensors the more modern engines have.

We run midgrade with our 103's

Good luck again with your car..i think you got a great bargain.

i actually didn't bid on the car.... i saw the "zero" feedback and figured it was a phantom bid.

I emailed the owner a couple days later and we worked out the deal..

everyone is happy.

My wife goes to get it Wednesday... I will then do a bit of rehab work on hers...

i want to get it resprayed...and will do all the prep work myself...

You gotta be kidding me, right? I've always ran my '89 300CE on premium because that is what the specs call for, or so I thought. It has the M103 engine. I've been wasting a whole lot of money if I could run regular all this time, especially in the price run-up last summer.
