How to burp cooling system in M103?

I'm doing some reading on the cooling system for the M103 here and many people are suggesting "burping" the system after a coolant flush?

it's slightly vague how this is being done, could someone explain this to me?

do I just leave the reservoir cap off the car on a cold start, and let it run for about 10 minutes and recap?

I just did a coolant, reservoir, and thermostat replacement on my 93 2.6 and now the temperatures are running kind of high, so more information on making the cooling system run properly would be helpful.
