W140 Transmission Issues

Hi All;

I currently own a 1994 W140 S320 SWB, its nearly in mint condition and it has around 91.000 Km on the odometer.

Last year when I was returning home from a business trip I noticed a blue smoke from my rear view mirror and smoked seemed to be coming under the car.

I pulled over the car and saw that transmission fluid somehow leaked out, covered the exhaust pipes and off course burned off causing the blue smoke.

I called a friend of mine who has an independent service and described clearly what happened. He told me that transmission fluid could have been overfilled and the excess retained itself out due to high speeding.

After the incident my shifting was pretty jerky, I changed transmission oil, filter and pressure modulator and driving improved significantly.

Currently my highway driving is very smooth, have no problems with a kick down but when driving in traffic my shifting up is a bit jumpy, the car nearly leaps forward a bit when shifting.

Is there a minor remedy for the situation or do I need to rebuild the transmission ( new discs etc etc )

I would like to thank you all for giving your precious time and thoughts on the matter and looking forward to hearing what you have to say about the problem.
