A160 - alternator belt got broken

Hello fine people,

The belt in my wife's 1998 A160 got broken.

Battery light came on the dash as she drove into our drive way. Thank God for that.

Could you please direct me to the right source of information to replace the belt?

Any help is much appreciated

Regards

Fitian

I'm guessing its a standard serpentine belt....release the tensioner....install new belt. Readjust tensioner. Not a lot to it....if you were still running the original belt after 11 years.....then its kinda obvious why it failed. Hopefully you aren't maintaining the whole vehicle that way!

Also, pretty much nobody here owns an A-class.....they are not sold in the USA....I personally have only seen a few in my life when visiting Germany.....and one in Canada once....

Thanks for your fast reply.

No I do not service this car myself.
I drive 1981 300D and have nothing to do with my wife's car.

We always take it to mercedes work shop on time. But it is Sunday here in Sydney and my wife has missed on going to church because of that broken belt.

I needed a source of info to be able to get more involved in servicing this car.

Regards
