Auxiliary fan

The fan in front of the radiator of my 190E only turns very slow when the engine is running. The car wants to run hot when stuck in traffic. Is the fan clutch bad? I'm fixing to go to So. Fla. where the weather is much hotter, and debating about taking the car or not. I do not need to be stuck in a traffic jam in Miami, and have my baby beguin to overheat. Please help!

The fan clutch controls the fan between the radiator and the engine. It should be turning at engine speed when the coolant temp hits around 100C. It will be noticeable loud and should be pulling a large amount of air through the radiator.
