M103 motor mounts that last? (W126)
Okay, I'm miffed. My mounts on my '90 300SE are not even a year old and they're already shot.
When I talked to Chris @ C&M hydraulics a while back, he also mentioned having rotten luck with his 300SE and several replacement mounts, and he was using MB parts! Can anyone recommend a motor mount that holds up in this car? Thanks!

Did you replace the transmission mount at the same time?
If you didn't and this mount is no good it can cause the motor mounts to wear out again quite quickly. |

I’ve had three 126 Chassis 300 SEL Mercedes. I used after-market motor mounts from two well known suppliers with horrible results. I finally decided to go to the dealer for genuine MB motor mounts. The mounts cost me about $100 for both sides from the dealer. For some reason the right side mount is over twice as expensive as the left side. I don’t think I got much more then a year out of the after-market mounts, and it looks like the OEM’s are still OK at well over two years. The right side really takes a beating from the exhaust manifold heat. Has anyone experimented with a more robust heat insulator then that OEM little plate that’s on the mount?

Interesting.......
One would think that a mount could be made to last longer. Yes, I did my trans mount at the same time. I wonder what effect the condition of the engine shocks has on the life of the mounts.......... Funny, outofspec's results were the exact opposite of Chris from C&M. Now I really don't know which way to go. Think I'll just order some MB mounts and replace the shocks at the same time and hope for the best. I honestly can't recall what brand I have in there now......

What brand did you have? All I know of are CRP, Meyle, OE (probably Lemforder), and the crap Uro.
I have nothing really positive to say in regards to Uro. Most of their parts I've used fit VERY poorly and wear out quick if they do fit. Meyle and CRP stuff is good/okay, I use a lot of it on the front ends of my BMWs as it's all that's available minus big cost OE stuff. Another part I have used is Ocap, and it seems to be doing okay. FWIW

Iput Febi Bilstein on mine and the passenger side went bad in one whole week! I spoke to my mechanic and he said to use dealer only as all the other stuff is either too soft or too hard. I still have not replaced them.
