1995 E320 Need Help ID'ing Wiring Harness Connector near Battery

Does anybody know what the two-pin connector closest to the date code sticker does on the wiring harness? Again, it is a two-pin black connector near the battery (one of the first that you plug/unplug during replacement) that connects to another small black female connector with no apparent sensor nearby. Car is a 1995 E320. I checked wiring diagram to no avail.
