KYB suck.

Sorry. They just don't last very long....about 30K miles and they are gone.

Bilsteins. I have them on my benzes, my 03 dodge truck, my wife's pt cruiser and my 95 chebby wagon (not installed yet).

I believe Bilsteins to be the best. The only alternative I have seen that I like are Boge. (if i spelled it right?) I have those on my 85 300D.

HD's on the W126 and Comfort's on the W124....makes for a nice ride! I'd never buy KYB's....those are what cheap people put on their pickups.

I am someone who has used both and even though the KYB's are MUCH less expensive than the Bilsteins, I would NEVER AGAIN choose KYB's over Bilsteins..... EVER!

You didn't have a choice for Billi Sports so I chose HD. I have KYB's on the corvette (came that way from PO) and I have to say KYB stands for "kicks your butt"...

Other than a one-time mishap with a poorly cast stud, Bilsteins have always been more durable in the cars I have used them in. The few times I have used KYB, they have oiled out after a year or two.

Do Bilsteins still carry a lifetime warranty?

Boge (Sachs) are OEM in some markets

After 100,000 miles puled my OEM Sachs off (one leaking) and replaced with Bilsteins. The Bilstein construction seems to be much better than even Sachs.

Back in the "Engineered like no other car" days, M.B. matched the suspension components on every car coming off the line. Why compromise this with cheaper struts?

I have run Bilstein comforts for about 13 years, with eibach springs on a lowered coupe, and it was fine.

But a year ago I changed to HD's, and the ride is much firmer, BUT it corners much better in aggressive turns, ie, 90+ mph sweepers, and the like; the W126 is not, and never will be a canyon carver like an M3 or M5, but if you know what you are doing, it can be driven with surprising verve.

Now I am on the lookout for W126 NOS springs and shocks from AMG.

KYB or HD if you want to ride like a truck.

Comfort if you want it to ride like a luxury car.

My old 190D had the KYB HDs put on by the PO and it was like riding a dump truck.

Also I had a 1990 Lexus LS400 that the PO had put KYBs on and it was too rough for me. I put OEM Toyota shocks on it and it was soft as a cloud... way it was meant to be.

I also believe that Bilstiens are the best (aside from perhaps AMG spec shock) I would, however be willing to sacrifice some ride quality to gain less weight transfer. I hate it when you take off and everything shifts to the rear...
