Will miss you Arthur.

Some of us old forum timers just pop in every now and then. So I definitely missed your post about the 10 year thing

So long, Arthur

We hope you will stop in and visit now and then. I always enjoyed reading your posts. I could tell Arthur knew what he was talking about. We will miss that! Jim

Always alot of stuff to do when you have a bunch of land around your house and it is an old house. Right now I'm learning all I can about roof work getting ready to re-roof it.
I certainly understand the logging portion of land ownership. It's a constant battle. Not only the trees and brush around where you don't want it, but keeping the sprouts from turning into trees in the pastures.

I'm glad to hear that the boys are involved with it. My son and I spent lots of time clearing brush and cutting firewood from the time he was about six until he went off to college. The second Christmas he was home from college we had a terrible ice storm that took down lots of heavy branches around the house. We spent several days with a chainsaw trying to clean up the mess. He said he thought he was finished with that part of his life. Now that he's almost 30 he's kind of ready to help me with such things when he visits. Maybe the city life wasn't what he thought it would be.

I just read in another thread in Diesel Discussion that Arther is missed. I did some searching to find out what happened. Iam sad to see an experienced person leave for any reason, this is sort of like an extended family. I have only been here 2 yrs and 8 mo, so still a little green around the ears. wish I could have found this forum back in 1999 when it started.

Arther really helped me understand "How to determine friction Preload" in the differentials. Thank You so much for that bit of information.

I wish you the best is what ever you do, and I hope our paths cross some time in the future.

take care

Charlie

I just skimmed down and am surprised to see I have not posted on this thread.

Arthur was and is indeed a classy individual with vast knowledge and an equally generous spirit who always had exactly the right answer and never anything but total courtesy and patience with those less experienced.

He is missed, I am sure by one and all.

I'm going to follow Arthur Daltons lead and call 10 years enough. I started posting 10 years ago this month and my MB is no longer my daily driver.

I enjoyed it and my best to everyone.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this forum. Arthur helped me get a 250SL back on the road. Larry has helped me with many mercedes issues, as have t_wal and others.

I just wanted to give these wonderful people a big and thanks.

I had mentioned in some of my post for the last few months that I would be leaving when I got to either 10,000 post or my Tenth Year date, whichever came first.
So, I thought most were aware of those plans...guess I should have left an Exit Post on 8/18....

Anyway, A Decade here has been enough for me , and most of my last couple years post were just repeats of Archieves info ... so I have moved on to a new [ and completely different] Venue.

Anyway...Many thanks to all , and specially to the orignators of the Forum.
Seems like yesterday that most of us Vets all came over here from Alt.Autos.Mercedes. Times change , new people come , the Forum continues...........
Well, now you've screwed up, Arthur. You posted again after your tenth anniversary. So, I guess you'd better stay until your 10,000th post or something . . .

We'll see you until at least post #10,000 now, right? Either that or you'll have to hang around until your fifteen year anniversary. This place is like the Hotel California. You can check in anytime you like, but you can never leave . . .
