w202 dummy light definition
My friend just bought a 1999 c-280, and he mentioned that a little wrench lights up on his dash when he starts it. He doesn't have the owners manual, so he can't define it. Is this the service light or something? Thanks.

It is probably due for service ie. oil and filter change. I believe it is called the Flexible Service Schedule or FSS. The car determines the length of time between servicing based on driving and operating conditions.

Yes, it is the service reminder. There is a reset procedure for it in the owner's manual. He can get a copy from M-B or ebay.

What they said. At first it will show the miles until service is due then will go off and show the regular display. If you ignore it then it stays on all the time.
