How to test a power antenna?
I have a Hirschmann Auta 6000 U 485 Power Antenna that I ran across in the shop that I must have pulled from from a 190E, a 300SD, or maybe one of my old 300D's over the years. I am wondering if it works but I don't have the wiring diagrams on how to test it.
In the middle of the electrical plug is the number 9666 and the individual plug numbers are 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. I need to know which is the ground (I suspect it is grounded through the body, but it could be the 'brown wire' connects to one of the numbered plugs) and what is supposed to happen when 12V is supplied to the other poles? I do not have the female connector, so I wil just be using alligator clips to make the connections. That is why I need to know if voltage or ground goes to a pole and not which colored wire. Any help is welcome, but descriptions work better for me than wiring diagrams. My eyesight is failing and those little lines are just too hard to see. Thanks! |

You don't have a car with the same female connector to plug into?
I tested one just to see if the motor makes noise. The ground is obvious, and touching a few of the other connections with the live activated the motor. That was my junk yard test. When I installed it it worked perfectly.

This looks like it will get me going.
I don't have any cars here right now due to eyesight problems. The kids are driving them all as I cannot see letting them sit idle. Maybe after a little eye surgury I can start driving again... Until then I am just puttering around and doing the best i can with whatever I can do through the magnifying glasses! |
